About Sydney West Rugby Referees’ Association Inc.

Sydney West Rugby Referees’ Association Inc. (Incorporation No. INC 9886803) was formed in December 2006 by the amalgamation of two long established referee associations - the Eastwood District Referees’ Association and the Parramatta District Referees’ Association. Those two district associations, both of which came into existence in the early 1960s, previously carried out refereeing activities in the area now serviced by Sydney West RRA.

The objectives of Sydney West Rugby Referees’ Association Inc. are:

·       to promote, recruit, foster, support, encourage and develop match officials for the game of Rugby football;

·       to appoint match officials to games of Rugby football;

·       to provide equipment and facilities for the benefit of members;

·       to do all things conducive to or incidental to any of the above purposes.

What areas do Sydney West Referees service?

Sydney West RRA services a geographically large area that extends from Dural in the north to Campbelltown in the south and from Concord and Beecroft in the east to Lapstone in the west.

Our members are appointed to matches organised by the Eastwood, Parramatta, Penrith and West Harbour District Junior Rugby Unions as well as to matches in the Sydney Junior Rugby Union's Saturday Competition and Sunday Competition and to a number of Saturday and mid-week school competitions.

Sydney West members are appointed to matches arranged by clubs, schools and other organising bodies in the western, south western and north western suburbs of Sydney.

Are you interested in becoming a referee?

Refereeing is an essential part of Rugby.  Ask any referee and they’ll tell you that refereeing is a terrific way to stay fit, active and involved in our great game.

However, to cater for the growth in the game in recent years - especially in the important new residential areas to the south west and north west of Sydney - the number of accredited referees and assistant referees needs to be increased urgently.

Please visit our Recruitment page to learn just how easy it is to become a Rugby referee and to participate in this fantastic leisure pastime. Sydney West refereeing appointments can be organised around your availability and any other activities you may be involved in.  Wherever possible, referees are appointed to matches in or near the areas in which they live or work.
